Etymology
From the Día de los Reyes (literally “day of the kings”), celebrated in some Spanish-speaking countries on January 6 every year. On this day, the Reyes Magos (“wise men”, literally “magic kings”), are said to give presents to children, equivalent to Santa Claus’s gift-giving celebrated on December 25.
