Bunnik

Dutch

Etymology

First attested as bunninchem in 918-948. Etymology unclear. The toponym appears to be derived from an unclear first element and either the suffix Proto-Germanic *-ikja- or Latin -acum. The element Old Dutch hēm (home, settlement) is a scribal insertion.
