Originally from the plural stem of -s (in some cases also -os, -us; all deverbal noun suffixes), by analogy with plural derivatives of deverbal nouns using that suffix.

-ksi-

1. Used in adverbs between a verb and a locative case (especially an internal locative case, like inessive, illative or elative) ending.

Attaches to the weak stem of the verb. The nominal form obtained as a result of attaching the locative case ending is considered to be in plural.

Only cases where the corresponding -s, -os or -us derivative of a verb does not exist as an independent noun can be considered to use the -ksi-, which has developed from the inflected forms of those derivatives by analogy, specifically.
