From 습 (-seup-, humble suffix) + Middle Korean 더〮ᅌᅵ다〮 (-téngìtá).
A more polite version of 데 (-de). Compare the pairs 습니다 (-seumnida) - 네 (-ne), 읍시다 (-eupsida) - 세 (-se).
