Cognate with Moksha инкса (inksa, “because of”). Possibly derived from -нь (-ń, genetive case suffix) + ки (ki, “way”) + -са (-sa, inessive case suffix) (compare Erzya кис (kis), кисэ (kise, “because of”)). (This etymology is missing or incomplete.
