Etymology

From Proto-Anatolian *bnฬฅวตรบs, from Proto-Indo-European *bสฐnฬฅวตสฐ-รบ-s.

Compare Sanskrit เคฌเคนเฅ (bahu). A relation has been suggested from Proto-Indo-European *ponkสทto- (โ€œall, wholeโ€), from *penkสท- (โ€œto take in hand, to handleโ€), thus Latin cลซnctus would be cognate.[1]
