Cognate to Hebrew חָצֵר (ḥāṣēr), Jewish Literary Aramaic חַטּרָא (ḥaṭṭərā, “animal fold”), Hatran Aramaic 𐣧𐣨𐣣𐣠 (ḥṭrʾ) and Palmyrene Aramaic 𐡧𐡨𐡴𐡠 (ḥṭrʾ, “walled court”). To the Arabic root ح ص ر (ḥ-ṣ-r) or more likely ح ض ر (ḥ-ḍ-r).
