From 𐕆𐔴𐔱𐔼𐔺𐔰 (hebiya, send, verb) + -𐔺- (-y-, glide) + -𐕒 (-o, absolutive suffix), literally "The sent one". Probably a calque of Ancient Greek ἀπόστολος (apóstolos), like Old Armenian առաքեալ (aṙakʻeal).
