Etymology
From a Proto-Scythian endonym *Skuδa via Old Median *Skuδa + 𐎼 (*-ra-, hypocoristic suffix). First element is derived from Proto-Iranian *Skuda, ultimately from *(s)kewd- (“to propel, shoot”). Cognate with Ancient Greek Σκύθης (Skúthēs).[1]
