Gothic
Etymology
From Proto-Germanic *un-, from Proto-Indo-European *nΜ₯-.
Usage notes
- Adjectives formed with this prefix often have a connotation of unable to ... , as in πΏπ½π·πΏπ½ππ»π°π²π (unhunslags), which means implacable (as opposed to not pertaining to sacrifice, as its derivation might suggest), and in πΏπ½π±πΉπ»π°πΉπππΉπΈπ (unbilaistiΓΎs) and πΏπ½ππ°πΉππ»π°πΉπππΉπΈπ (unfairlaistiΓΎs), which both mean inscrutable (as opposed to merely unsearched or unfound as their derivations might suggest).
