Sino-Korean word from 土曜日, from 土曜 (“Saturn”) + 日 (“day”), from Latin dies Saturni (“day of Saturn”), through Indian astrology in the fifth century as Sanskrit शनिवार (śanivāra, “of the planet Saturn”) into Buddhist astrology in the eighth century as 土曜日.
