봄비
Korean
Etymology
First attested in the Bullyu dugongbu si eonhae (分類杜工部詩諺解 / 분류두공부시언해), 1481, as Middle Korean 보ᇝ〮비〮 (Yale: pwóm-s-pí).
Compound of 봄 (bom, “spring”) + ㅅ (-s-, genitive interfix; omitted from the spelling, but this causes the tense phonation of the following consonant) + 비 (bi, “rain”).
Pronunciation
- (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [po̞mp͈i]
- Phonetic hangul: [봄삐]
