벌집
Korean
Etymology
벌 (beol, “bee”) + ㅅ (-s-, genitive interfix; omitted from the spelling, but this causes the tense phonation of the following consonant) + 집 (jip, “house”).
Pronunciation
- (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [ˈpɘ(ː)ʎt͡ɕ͈ip̚]
- Phonetic hangul: [벌(ː)찝]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
