Etymology
반(半) (ban, “half”) + 올림 (ollim, “elevating; rounding off”, from 올리다 (ollida, “to raise”)).

- Phonetic hangul: [바(ː)놀림]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
