모든
Korean
Etymology
First attested in the Seokbo sangjeol (釋譜詳節 / 석보상절), 1447, as Middle Korean 모ᄃᆞᆫ〮 (Yale: mwòtón), originally the realis adnominal inflection of the verb 몯다〮 (mwòttá, “to gather, to assemble”), hence literally "[the] assembled", but never perceived as such by modern speakers.
Pronunciation
- (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [ˈmo̞(ː)dɯn]
(file)
- Phonetic hangul: [모(ː)든]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
