머리카락

Korean

Etymology

Equivalent to 머리 (meori, “head”) + 가락 (garak, “long slender thing”). First attested in the 17th century, where it was written as 머리카락 (melikhalak), 머리ᄏᆞ락 (melikholak). Reason for the aberrant aspiration in the second component is unclear.
