From Proto-Karen *loŋᴮ (“stone, rock”) (Luangthongkum, 2019) or *loŋ¹ (“idem”) (Burling, 1969), from Proto-Sino-Tibetan *r-lu(ŋ/k) (“stone”). Cognate with Pa'o Karen လုံး, S'gaw Karen လၢၢ် (luẖ).
