Compound of 飾り (kazari, decorating; decoration, (れん)(よう)(けい) (ren'yōkei, stem or continuative form) of the verb (かざ) (kazaru, to decorate)) + (tana, shelf, shelving).[1][2] The tana changes to dana as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
