Etymology
From 開け (hirake, imperative form of 開く (hiraku, “to open”)) + 胡麻 (goma, “sesame”), calque of French sésame, ouvre-toi in Antoine Galland's version of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves in One Thousand and One Nights, possibly based on an oral Arabic source.
