Etymology
Compound of 天道虫 (tentō-mushi, “ladybird, ladybug”) + 騙し (damashi, the 連用形 (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of 騙す (damasu), "to deceive"). The kanji compound is jukujikun (熟字訓), borrowed from Chinese 偽瓢蟲, literally, "imitation ladybird". (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)
