あさぼらけ
Japanese
Alternative spelling |

朝ぼらけ |
Etymology
Compound of 朝 (asa, “morning”) + ぼらけ (borake, of uncertain meaning).[1][2][3]
Speculating on the nature of the second element borake, there is a distant possibility that this might be from 洞開け (hora ake, literally “cave + opening”), in reference to the myth of the sun goddess Amaterasu shutting herself into a cave, and the reopening of that cave representing a dawn of sorts.
