Possibly from Proto-Berber *w-r-ɣ, from Proto-Afroasiatic *wVraq- (green). Cognate with Proto-Semitic *waraḳ-, see there for more. Hardly borrowed from Arabic وَرَق (waraq) for semantic reasons.
