ῥέμβω
Ancient Greek
Etymology
From Proto-Indo-European *wremb-, from *werb- (“to turn, twist, bend”), from *wer-. Compare Middle Low German wrimpen and Lithuanian reñgtis, Latin vertō (“to turn, bend”), Old English weorpan (“to throw away”). More at versus. Beekes argues for a Pre-Greek origin.
