Ending like ἀπήνη (apḗnē), λαμπήνη (lampḗnē) and ὑπήνη (hupḗnē). The word has also been compared with similar terms like ἀνθρηδών (anthrēdṓn, hornet), θρῶναξ (thrônax, drone) and τενθρηδών (tenthrēdṓn, kind of wasp). In view of the suffix and the variations, the word is probably Pre-Greek.
