1. (IPA) uvular nasal
2. (superscript ⟨ᶰ⟩, IPA) [ɴ]-prenasalization, [ɴ]-release or post-nasalization, [ɴ]-coloring or a weak, fleeting or epenthetic [ɴ].

   (on a click consonant) A nasal uvular click; specifically:

   velar dental click ⟨ᶰǀ⟩ (old-style ⟨ᶰʇ⟩),

   velar alveolar click ⟨ᶰǃ⟩ (old-style ⟨ᶰʗ⟩),

   velar palatal click ⟨ᶰǂ⟩ (old-style ⟨ᶰ𝼋⟩),

   velar lateral click ⟨ᶰǁ⟩ (old-style ⟨ᶰʖ⟩),

   velar bilabial click ⟨ᶰʘ⟩,

   velar retroflex click ⟨ᶰ𝼊⟩ or ad hoc ⟨ᶰ‼⟩ (old-style ⟨ᶰψ⟩).

   Placement after the click letter – e.g. ⟨ǂᶰ⟩ – may imply an audible uvular release.

4. (obsolete, pre-1900 IPA) Used to represent either a palatal nasal [ɲ] or a velar nasal [ŋ], depending on the language.

1. (lexicography) Indicates nasal vowels in unassimilated French loans, e.g. \văɴ blâɴ\ for vin blanc.
2. (lexicography) Used in the digraph ⟨ɴɢ⟩ for the /ŋ/ sound.
