Etymology
Akin to Mingrelian ვე-თე (ve-te, “bright meadow in dense forest”, literally “field-light”), თეული (teuli, “white spot on forehead”). Klimov uncertainly derives from Proto-Kartvelian *te- (“light”), from which, according to him, Proto-Kartvelian *ten- : *tn- (“to become visible, be getting light”) is derived.
