From Old Georgian ზურმუხტი (zurmuxṭi), from the earlier antecedent of Persian زمرد (zomorrod), according to Ačaṙean via Old Armenian զմրուխտ (zmruxt), earlier *զումուրուխտ (*zumuruxt).
