Etymology 1
Uncertain. According to Fähnrich, from Proto-Kartvelian *baz₁-. Cognate with Mingrelian ბჟოუ (bžou, “fool”), the reconstruction however does not take into account the synonymous Mingrelian ჟოლო (žolo).
