Etymology

From Old Georgian აღდგომაჲ (aɣdgomay). The term originally meant 'to get up', however, the sense Easter developed from the fact, that "Christ got up (i.e. resurrected)". By surface analysis, აღ- (aɣ-) + დგომა (dgoma).
