ၜဴ (ḅau, sugarcane) + လုပ် (lup, to go in, to enter) + ပါၚ် (pāṅ, mouth) + စိၚ် (ciṅ, elephant), whose literal meaning is “the sugarcane went into the elephant's mouth”; cf. Thai อ้อยเข้าปากช้าง, whose construction is similar to that of Mon.[1]
