အဋ္ဌ (athta.) + ဂံ (gam). From Pali အဋ္ဌ (aṭṭha, “eight”) + ကောဏ (kau:na., “angle”). Cognate with Khmer អដ្ឋកោន (ʼatthaʼkaon).
