Borrowed from Pali seṭṭhi (“treasurer”), from Sanskrit श्रेष्ठीन् (śreṣṭhīn). Indigenized as သူ- (su-, “-er”) +‎ ဌေး (hte:, “wealthy”). Doublet of ချစ်တီး (hkyacti:).
