Etymology
From Pali ārādhanā (“invitation; gratification; propitiation”); ultimately from Sanskrit आराधन (ārādhana, idem); perhaps via Old Khmer ʼārādhnā, ʼārādanā, ʼārāddanā, ʼārādaṇā (“to invite; to summon; to solicit; to ask a favour or boon; etc”) or Angkorian Old Khmer ʼārādhanā (idem). Cognate with Modern Khmer អារាធនា (ʼaariətniə).
