Odia
Pronunciation
Audio (file) - IPA(key): /d͡ʒɔ/
Usage notes
It is not pronounced /j/ as in most Brahmic scripts, but instead as /dʒ/ due to sound shift, just like its Bengali equivalent য. A very similar repurposing happened to the Latin letter J in many Western European languages. Its name is the same as the letter ଜ. A modified version of this letter, ୟ, is now used for /j/.
