Etymology
Perhaps from Sanskrit केसर (kḗsara, “hair, saffron”), due to the fiber found on mango seeds resembling hair; compare Sinhalese කෙසුරු (kesuru, “Mimusops elengi; medlar, bulletwood”), of the same origin. Cognate with Hindi and Marathi कैरी (kairī, “unripe mango”).
