Etymology
Inherited from Prakrit 𑀳𑀲𑁆𑀲𑀇 (hassaï), 𑀳𑀲𑀇 (hasaï), from Sanskrit हसति (hásati). Cognate to Old Marathi 𑘮𑘰𑘭𑘜𑘹 (hāsaṇe), 𑘮𑘰𑘽𑘭𑘜𑘹 (hāṃsaṇe), Old Gujarati हसिवउं (hasivaüṃ), Middle Bengali হস (hoś).
