Borrowed from Classical Persian الله (allāh), from Arabic اللّٰه (allāh). First attested as Old Punjabi ਅਲਹੁ (alahu /⁠allahu⁠/). Compare Hindustani اَللہ (allh) / अल्लाह (allāh), Bengali আল্লাহ (allah), Malayalam അല്ലാഹു (allāhu).
