Etymology

Borrowed from Japanese 蓮の花 (hasu no hana, “lotus flower”), from 蓮 (hasu, “lotus”) +‎ の (no) +‎ 花 (hana, “flower”). Alternatively from হাসনা (haśona) +‎ হেনা (hena, “henna”), the former being from either Arabic ⁧حَسْنَاء⁩ (ḥasnāʔ, “beauty, extremely beautiful”) or ⁧حَسَنَة⁩ (ḥasana, “good deed, beautiful”) and the latter from Arabic ⁧حِنَّاء⁩ (ḥinnāʔ, “henna”).
