Etymology 1
Inherited from Middle Bengali সহি (śohi), from Classical Persian صحیح (sahīh), from Arabic صَحِيح (ṣaḥīḥ, “correct, valid”), with semantic shift in South Asian Persian. Doublet of সহীহ (sohih), borrowed directly from Arabic. Compare Assamese চহী (sohi), Hindi सही (sahī).
