Cognate with Sylheti ꠝꠣꠁꠀ (maia), ꠝꠣꠁ (mai) and Assamese মাই (mai). Doublet of মা (ma), মাতা (mata), মাতৃ (matri), মাই (mai, breast), and মাসি (maśi).
