From কেতি (keti, *how many/much) (compare কেত (ket, more than one), কেত (keto, how many/much)), with -আ (-a). কেতি (keti) is from Early Assamese কেতি (keti) (whence কেতিখনে (ketikhone, when), কেতিবেৰি (ketiberi, when)). Compare Maithili কেহিযা (kehiyā).
