Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘫𑘹𑘯𑘲(𑘦𑘹𑘽𑘛𑘲) (śeḷī(meṃḍhī)), 𑘭𑘹𑘯𑘲 (seḷī), from a derivative of Sanskrit छगल (chagalá).
