Inherited from Prakrit लवंग / 𑀮𑀯𑀁𑀕 (lavaṃga), from Sanskrit लवङ्ग (lavaṅga). Cognate with Bengali লবঙ্গ (loboṅgo), Hindustani لَون٘گ (lauṅg) / लौंग (lauṅg), Punjabi لونگ (long) / ਲੌਂਗ (lauṅg).
