Inherited from Old Marathi तान्ह (tānha), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀢𑀡𑁆𑀳𑀸 (taṇhā), from Sanskrit तृष्णा (tṛṣṇā). Cognate with Konkani तान (tān) and Pali taṇhā.
