Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘖𑘹𑘩𑘜𑘹 (jhelaṇe), from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀛𑁂𑀮𑀢𑀺 (*jhelati, “to undergo”).[1] Compare Hindustani جھیلْنَا (jhelnā) / झेलना (jhelnā), Nepali झेल्नु (jhelnu).
