Etymology

Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘕𑘳𑘽𑘢𑘜𑘹 (juṃpaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀚𑀼𑀁𑀚𑀇 (juṃjaï) with an analogical change, from Sanskrit युनक्ति (yunákti), युञ्जति (yuñjati). Compare Sindhi جُنَبڻُ / जुंबणु.[1]
