Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘏𑘰𑘽𑘟 (khāṃda), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀔𑀁𑀥 (khaṃdha), from Sanskrit स्कन्ध (skandhá). Cognate with Hindi कंधा (kandhā), Nepali काँध (kā̃dh), Bengali কান্ধ (kandho), Assamese কান্ধ (kandho).
