Borrowed from Northwestern Indo-Aryan (whence Punjabi ਕੰਗਣ (kaṅgaṇ), ਕੰਗਨ (kaṅgan)), from Prakrit 𑀓𑀁𑀓𑀡 (kaṃkaṇa), from Sanskrit कङ्कण (kaṅkaṇa). Doublet of ककना (kaknā).
