Etymology
Borrowed from Prakrit 𑀅𑀝𑁆𑀞𑀢𑁆𑀢𑀻𑀱 (aṭṭhattīṣa), from Sanskrit अष्टात्रिंशत् (aṣṭātriṃśat). Cognate with Sinhalese අටතිස (aṭatisa). For the preservation of /r/, see ތިރީސް (tirīs).
