Etymology
From Akkadian 𒌅𒄴𒉡 (/duḫnu; tuḫnu/, “millet”), ultimately from a variation of Proto-Semitic *ṭaḥan-/*ṭaḥaḥ- (“to grind, to pound, to crush, to break down into pieces; especially of corn”). Compare Arabic دُخْن (duḵn) and Hebrew דֹּחַן (dōḥan).
